This August of 2025, Dubai witnessed an extraordinary fitness event transforming its shopper's heaven into an indoors running phenomenon that beat hearts. Welcome to the Dubai Mallathon—a record-breaking performance that has now been declared the world's largest mall run.

What Was Dubai Mallathon?
Dubai Mallathon was a city-wide health initiative. For the entire month of August, Dubai’s top malls transform into morning fitness hubs with walkways, health stations, kids’ zones, step tracking, and special offers—making healthy living simple and social. From 7 a.m. until 10 a.m., locals and visitors were able to jog, run, or walk in air-conditioned pathway through areas like The Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, The Springs Souk, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Dubai Marina Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, Dubai Festival City Mall, and Festival Plaza.
How It Unfolded
Starting from August 1 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan, the campaign that ran for a month offered 2.5 km to 10 km runs as well as relaxed, any-pace walks.
For 31 days, more than 40,000 people took over the indoor runways—posting a staggering 120 million steps across the city's leading malls.
The Dubai Hills Mall grand finale went into the record books: 1,392 of all ages and backgrounds were in a single mass start—claiming an award for the most people in a mall run event.
Leadership, Vision, and Youth at the Core
The event succeeded with the support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It was proudly endorsed onto the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033, Dubai Social Agenda 33, and Year of Community, reinforcing the vision of the emirate to make sport part of daily life and enhance public happiness.
Youth participation reached record levels, because of the youth dominating runners through their instrumental role in community initiatives. As Minister of State for Youth Affairs Dr. Sultan Al Neyadi noted, "sport is one of the most powerful platforms through which young people find both inspiration and self-expression," as a fertile ground for the cultivation of physical and mental health.
Also, the campaign encouraged intergovernmental collaboration—from the Dubai Police and RTA to Dubai Future Foundation and Culture and Arts Authority—highlighting a shared effort to promote citizenship and health.
A New Ambitious Horizon: Annual, Three-Month Mallathon
Pushed by its success, Sheikh Hamdan directed the Dubai Mallathon to be annually organized, from three months (June 15 to September 15) from 2026 onwards. The increase is meant to enhance public reach and enhance the culture of active living within all communities.

Reflections: Promoting Public Health and community fitness to a culture
The Dubai Mallathon was more than a run—it was an exuberant proclamation of good health and connections, convenors, collaborative spirit and new ideas:
In a world where convenience sometimes comes before health, Dubai Mallathon reflected that being healthy can be both accessible and exciting by transforming the mundane into encouraging and pleasurable habits.
Let's take a bow for more steps, more stories and make more healthy communities in the future.
