ABOUT AL SHINDAGHA

Al Shindagha is a historic district in Bur Dubai, situated along Dubai Creek and next to Port Rashid. It borders Al Fahidi to the east and is connected to Deira through the Al Shindagha Tunnel. The district forms part of historic Dubai and is known for its restored heritage buildings, museums, cultural attractions and waterfront setting.

The area is particularly associated with Al Shindagha Museum, which incorporates 21 museum houses showcasing Dubai’s history, culture and Emirati traditions. The former Al Maktoum Residence is among its prominent heritage sites. City Centre Al Shindagha also provides modern retail and entertainment facilities within the historic district.

Al Shindagha is one of Dubai’s historic districts and occupies a small area along the western side of Dubai Creek. The neighbourhood has undergone extensive restoration to preserve its traditional architecture and heritage sites. Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum’s former residence is now part of the Al Shindagha Museum complex.


The district is primarily focused on heritage, culture, tourism and public attractions rather than conventional residential or commercial development. Its location beside the Creek places it close to Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, the Textile Souk, Bur Dubai and Port Rashid. City Centre Al Shindagha adds modern retail, dining and entertainment facilities to the area.

Its waterfront location also places it close to Al Ghubaiba's integrated public transport facilities. Parking is available in designated public areas and around major destinations. Al Ghubaiba Metro Station is located within Al Shindagha and operates on the Dubai Metro Green Line. The station provides convenient access towards Deira and other parts of Dubai. Al Ghubaiba Metro is approximately 170 metres from the main Al Shindagah area according to current location data.

Al Shindagha's main leisure attractions are centred on its heritage and waterfront setting. Al Ghubaiba Metro, bus and marine stations make the district particularly accessible without a private vehicle. However, those looking specifically for homes, residential amenities or a conventional community lifestyle will need to consider neighbouring areas such as Al Fahidi, Al Raffa, Al Mankhool or wider Bur Dubai, as Al Shindagha itself does not have an established residential property market.
